I love Fall and the foods that come with it. Pumpkin seeds and pomegranate seeds are some of my favorite treats! Here’s 2 contests that involve these fun Fall snacks.

Pumpkin Contest

I love cooking salty pumpkin seeds scooped from a Halloween Jack-o-lantern. I’m always amazed at how many seeds come out of a pumpkin. So I’m having a Pumpkin Seed Counting Contest! From this smaller pumpkin pictured above, How many seeds do you think came out of it? I’ll give you a hint, it’s more than you think.
Leave a comment on this post and give me your number of seeds in this bowl. Get the kids involved and let them guess too. You have until this Thursday, Oct. 23rd at Midnight. Who ever is below the number without going over will win (Price Is Right style!) Then I’ll post the winner on Friday, Oct. 24th and send out a fun Pumpkin Prize!

Pomegranate Contest

The creators of POM Wonderful Pomegranate juice have come up with a tasty recipe contest involving red ripe pomegranates. As much fun as pomegranate seeds are to eat by themselves, they go deliciously well in lots of dishes. If you submit an original recipe using fresh pomegranate or arils (seeds), along with an image, you could win the chance to be the POM Featured Blogger for 1 year ($5000 prize)! The contest begins today and runs through 11/30, so hopefully enough time to concoct something Wonderful. So get thinking and come up with a fun recipe to enter in.

We just carved our jack o lanterns last night, from Big Max pumpkins which wieghed 81 lbs, 45lbs and 37lbs.

The girls have been busy counting seeds today, and recording them with tally marks ~ for the younger 2, 10 seeds got one tally mark, for my 9yo 25 seeds get a tally mark.

Later we’ll do some graphing with all the weight, circumfrence and seed numbers! (and we’ll be roasting some seeds to enjoy while we do all that math!)
