Our favorite applesauce apples are Jonathan apples. When we put them in the bottles we throw in about 8 red hots as well to make cinnamon applesauce. Just stir it up before you eat it and it is absolutely delicious!! We also made Apple juice with the same apples and made a yummy hot wassail for Christmas or mixed it with Sprite for a festive drink.

I love to do an apple dip fondue party. Have caramel in the fondue pot, slices of apples, and lots of dippers. I like to have all the items that those fancy caramel apples have - cinnamon sugar, chocolate to drizzle, tiny chocolate chips, butterfinger, nuts, etc. People love it and they get to try all different varieties!

I made a great apple spice cake with a homemade carmel sauce to drizzle on top! It is delicious! I found the recipe on www.MarthaStewart.com. You have to try it!

We like to make freezer applesauce. Just cut an apple into chunks, place in a freezer bag with some cinnamon and freeze. When you want to eat it, take it out of the freezer and let thaw slightly then mash the bag (the kids love that part). Even without the addition of sugar, the applesauce tastes sweet.

If you use an apple sauce smoosher (not sure of the proper term -- it is a colander with a wooden thing that smooshes the applesauce out) you can make natural pink applesauce too. Just cook the apples with the skins on. My favorite variety are Paula Reds but we have trouble getting them here so I use Macintosh or Jonamacs. I am hoping to get the pictures up today, I just made some yesterday. Happy applesaucing.

I just wrote today about making apple crisp...but that is not the only thing. I've been making tons of applesauce (yet not colored!) and dried apples...I can't get enough!
