I know of a great diaper bag. I make them! Visit http://www.handbagsbyjen.com to check out the new styles. Be sure to see the stroller straps that allow you to hang the bag from a stroller or shopping cart. I started making bags after my first daughter was born and I couldn't find what I liked. So, I made one.

Life is a little too crazy for me to make my own bag now, but I should have thought of it sooner when I had plenty of time when I was prego!

Libby - I love all the items you put in your bag, especially the idea for the Baby Shot record. I always forget that one!!

But I found the bag for me! It's a simple Skip Hop bag from Target and it's working out great!

For the bag itself, if you're crafty (which I gather you are) then make one. You can pick up FABULOUS fabric like Amy Butler or the like and make it for under $20. Then you don't feel bad when you want to change it up after a year or so. I make them ALL the time and give them as gifts with a matching/coordinating nursing cover (bebe au lait) and burp cloths (can also be found on my Etsy shop). Those last two things I mentioned are ESSENTIALS to put in the bag. Nursing cover, burp cloths, wipes, diapers, binkys (if you use them), travel size hand sanitizer, tide to go (for spit up or other {poopy} mishaps, triple paste or Boudreau's Butt paste, etc. I also keep baby's shot record (since I ALWAYS forget it when going to the Dr.) and Infant Tylenol & Gas drops in the bag....just in case. BTW, your new baby is beautiful. When all we want/pray for is for them to be healthy, the beautiful part is just a bonus! Congrats & good luck!

hey baby lady, so cute!!!! i had a hard time finding a diaper bag that i really loved since i hadn't carried one for almost 3 years..I even drove all the way to provo to a boutique in the middle of a gigantic snow storm in january to check out some fancy bags that i thought i really wanted until i saw the price tag and remembered i live in midvale, not LA. then i found sherpani and fell in love with this bag http://sherpanipacks.com/onsaleproduct.aspx?LlP4iPvh=14&rClD2szU=89&dEeXDM63=81
in the green tea color. they sell them at rei, but it was 50% off on their website, which it still is (34.98) and with shipping, it was still cheaper than at rei. I love it because it's huge(but no awkwardly huge), has lots of pockets inside, 2 pockets on the outside for waterbottle, baby bottles, hair detangler...whatever and a little zipper pocket on the outside that my phone fits perfectly plus it's a messenger bag, which i wanted so I could have your hands free while I was carrying the baby. it's kind of more rei-ish than sassy-ish, but it was so cheap that if i hate it in 2-6 more months, i wouldn't feel feel bad buying another one. i kind of have a bag fetish, but after 4 months, i still love this bag! good luck!

I actually found the Ju-Ju-Be Diapers Bags are the ones I liked the best. They have MANY pockets & compartments, as well as large areas, too. They can even clip onto your stroller (which comes in handy when you need an extra hand). You can check them out at www.ju-ju-be.com or they list them on e-bay gently used pretty frequently. They are a little pricey ($100 is pricey to me :) but were definately worth the investment. Your baby girl is beautiful-my daughter has worn a bow or headband (and a bracelet) since the day she was born. Everyone always asks "how do you get her not to bother it?"-she doesn't know any different, they've always been there, ha! Congrats :)

All great ideas. I'm sure you have a bag by now. I just wanted to add an idea, as I'm not sure I saw it in the rest of the comments. If you have a place that you frequent (such as the grandparent's house) you may want to leave a small stack of diapers, wipes, and change of clothes there as well. We do that for both of our girls and I don't know how many times it has saved us!!! Every once in a while we will replace the clothing/diapers when the kids grow out of them.

Ohmygoodness, Marie...she is absolutely adorable...she doesn't even look like a newborn!

As for diaper bags, I would highly recommend my friend, Jenna, of Sweet Baby Creations. Here is the link to her Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5002761
Since you are a "make and taker," I thought you might like to check out a crafty mommy and her awesome diaper bags. They are full of pockets, inside and out and the bags are made with Amy Butler and other designer fabics. The straps and the bag in general are both very sturdy and very well-made. (Plus, she's a mom of two kiddos and who doesn't like to help support fellow moms?!) :) I hope this helps and good luck in your search!

Oh, I can't believe no one has suggested the Amy Butler nappy bag. Not only do you get to make your own with whatever fabric you love, it's got eighty million pockets and can grow to whatever size you need. I honestly have made over 60 of them for friends and family and still love the pattern. I have a few tips and advice for putting it together too if you are interested. Good luck with your beautiful new baby and thanks for all the wonderful ideas.
