Being a Stay at Home Blogger

by Marie on October 20, 2008

I’ve been featured over at the amazing site Today’s Mama. They’ve got great tips, articles and the ever popular Mama’s Handbook for Today’s Mama.

Busy Mom

A new feature called Mama Voices spotlights a few ladies and how they manage working from home, giving out the dirt on making it all work. My essay is on being a Stay At Home Blogger and how I manage a home and a blog. How do YOU do it? Are you a Work at Home Mom (WAHM) or a Stay at Home Blogger (SAHB)?

I loved your spotlight on Today’s Mama – we really aren’t the Mom’s we knew growing up! I think it is very important that you pointed out – when you’re doing what you love your whole household is happy!

Loved the article. I use my blog as an outlet to the outside world, becuase my husband works long hours and commutes and hour so he’s goine quite a bit. I do lots of crafts too and so it makes it fun for the kids. I love your blog and I love your ideas. Thanks for sharing!

I am in a transition phase in my blogging right now, so I’m all about trying to strike a balance.

I am a SAHM, but blogging and my Etsy shop kind-of-sort-of make me a little WAHM.

(Wishy-washy, right? Yeah, that would be my lack of balance!)

Hi Marie – I’m not a blogger – but I have to comment. Thank you so much for the energy you put into your blog. I really admire your site for its positive focus. You do a super job of making moms feel great about doing little things with their kids. I can always find something of value on your blog. Thank you so much for keeping your blog a warm, and positive place to visit every day. I think it’s great that you involve your kids so much in the projects…this makes me think “I could do that with my own kids!”

I’m both of those! Great feature. Some days I ask myself that same question, how do you do it. It just works for us, it’s hard work for sure, but worth it. Organization is key!

I’m definitely a stay at home blogger. Although recently, one of my blogs has “taken off” enough that I’m getting paid to do work for large companies. So, in a way I’m both a WAHM and a SAHB. It takes a lot of work, much more than I ever imagined. And I have to follow a schedule too.

How cool! I love Today’s Mama and their handbook is one of my favorites. I’m kind of a part-time blogger. But I definitely agree…doing what you love makes it worth each day. I prioritize my most important responsibilities and go from there…I don’t usually get through all of them, but what can you do? :)

HI! I’m a blog from work mom. I”m sure not many people fit into my category. I have an amazing job where I have internet access and can be on line when I’m on hold or waiting around to do my job. I work 20 hours a week and limit myself to blogging and reading blogs only while at work. If work gets busy, sometimes my blog gets neglected, but when it’s slow at work, I pre-write entries and schedule them to post later on. This really works for me. I know I would have a hard time balancing family time and blog time if I did it from home. I love some of your ideas, and I’m always trying them out with my own kids! Thanks for your work!
