Bug Vacuum

by Marie on July 17, 2008

One of our new Summer toys in action! My son is going crazy over his Bug Vacuum. Mostly he likes the sound the vacuum makes, bzzzzzz.

We’ve been going a little bug crazy the past few months, from caterpillars and butterflies to reading books about worms (a future storytime). Now we’re on the hunt for rollie pollie potato bugs! What creepy crawlies have you been in search for?

My kids are so into bugs right now. They don’t need a vacuum though they just pick them up with their hands — I even caught one of my three year olds with a bee one day holding the stinger between his fingers and hugging and kissing it — LOL! Anyway, a few weeks ago we found a herd, group or whatever of preying manti that had just “hatched” on our pump handle they were so cool. Here’s the post in my blog: http://murray-triplets.blogspot.com/2008/06/cool-bugs.html
Click on the photos to see them bigger they are so neat!

Lesley’s little boy has one and he picks up the spiders around the cabin. I love that! I hope everything is going well with the new babe! I heard your sick. Feel better soon.

Jasper and Josie are still in love with roly polies, much the way I remember being when I was that age. I feel so bad for the little buggies, though, since once Jasper gets one in his sweaty little palm there’s no reprieve!

This was on sale @Target, I couldn’t resist. It really is the sound that makes it that much cooler to use! Watch out bugs!

My boys (1 and 2) are really into bugs right now. For about a week, my older son was bringing handfuls of ladybugs into the house from a bush outside. We had the critters EVERYWHERE! After his brother ate some (“Yes, good buggies!”), we decided it might be kinder to keep a select few in clean yogurt containers and they accidentally (as in, Mama helped) escape during the night. :)
