Playing with the empty wrapping paper rolls has been just as much fun as the toys wrapped inside the paper! Here’s what we’ve been crafting with our Empty Wrapping Paper Rolls:
- Darth Maul Light Saber – black “gorilla” tape, red marker, and craft foam stickers as the power buttons
- Banister Blaster – tape onto the banister and shoot cars through
- Fire Hose to the Rescue – blue tissue paper is taped to one end

Usually, we just have battles with them, though we don’t seem too have many empty rolls these days as I’ve moved to packaging gifts in reusable fabric bags. Super easy to make and I just add a few more each year when Christmas fabrics go on sale. Thanks for all the great ideas.
Recycling them. What was I thinking????? These are fantastic ideas.
Love these ideas! We use them as a makeshift megaphone with our daughter, she loves hearing her voice through it and the sounds she can make!
We’ve done a few things:
1 – Cut apart and stick in the pet rat’s cage
2 – Drive cat crazy putting toys or food in them
3 – Cut and use for towers on castles made from kleenex box

These are great!
Fencing, a lot of fencing. We’ve put to pasture two tubes already and I think the other two will be done today. (Limp foils are a no go…)
(Love the “driving the cat crazy” idea, though…we will definitely be trying that!)
our rolls were used as lightsabers, as well, but they weren’t decorated. if only they had not already been demolished…what great ideas.

Those are great ideas! We used to just yell into them. Guess we weren’t very creative kids!
Sadly, Miles was using it as a trumpet when he ran it into a wall (misjudging how far the wall really was) and got a bad owie. So, we had to put it up for a while. Poor kid.

Fold up extension cords.
Stuff inside.
Tidy way to store cords.
Can use paper towel tubes or tp ones for short cords.
Love the car idea. Kids love simple things like that…even more so than some of the expensive toys.
