Oooh, I like the Pippi Braids, too. I think I’m going to try that on Saturday! I haven’t not worked on Halloween in 10 years, so this is the first time in a long time I’m going through my old box of costumes (my family was the always make your own type). I have the Arabian Princess that I made in 9th grade from an old blue dress and a white almost sheer robe (that was halloween all the way through highschool), but for some reason I don’t think it would fit the same anymore. I also have two large pumpkins my mom made from a sheet – die it orange, draw the jack-o-lantern, put a drawsting in the top/bottom and fill with newspaper. I just don’t feel like wearing any costume where I have to wear leggings… so Pippi it will be for me!

A friend of mine and I did Pippi braids like that in high school. It was so fun!

My daughter is going to be a jumping bean which we made out of rabbit fence and fleece. My son will be a robot, unless he can’t keep it on, then we’ll do an old Thumper costume.

Ooh, I love those braids too. I just need the long hair.

I made my son a Max costume from Where the Wild Things Are, and I adore it. I only wish he’d fit into it longer.

We’re going as cowboys this year (still need to score some cowboy boots this week)! Although we’ve had a lot of Halloween related activities already and have been makeshift strawberry shortcakes, pirates & soccer players.

My Mom makes the children’s costumes every year and they are always so beautiful! But what I really love are the miniature ornaments that she makes for our Halloween tree. She makes an exact replica of the costumes to hang on our tree. It’s so fun to hang them every year! This year we will have a witch and a wizard running around!

We usually do a combination of making and buying. This year, I challenged myself to make a dog-ears hat, paws, and a tail from a fuzzy fat quarter.

Madeline is going to be a kitty ballerina. She loves to dance and loves kitties. I bought some inexpensive black leggings and turtleneck at Walmart and am making Design Mom’s tulle skirt she posted last year for Christmas. I’m using sparkle black tulle, silver ribbon, and pink ribbon. And then we have a headband with kitty ears. It’s party homemade, part bought.

Logan picked out a knight in shining armour costume at Costco for this year. He is really excited!
