Introducing Storybook Summer, New Reading Series for Kids

by Marie on June 7, 2012

Ooooo, I can’t wait for this new summer series to start. I’ve been planning it for months, getting a few fabulous kid-crafty friends to help. It’s all about books and celebrating stories! All summer long we’ll be sharing our favorite children’s books, picture books and chapter books, and sharing a craft, recipe, or activity to go with it for our Storybook Summer.

You’ll want to head to the library or click over to Amazon to find these books and follow along with our stories and activities all summer long!

Here is the line up of amazing bloggers I’m excited to be hosting. You’ll see their posts scattered throughout the summer on M&T, so make sure to come back and check them out:

To start us off, here is a blast from the past of a few storybook activities we’ve done to celebrate our favorite books. And then come back tomorrow to see more.

  • Everybody Needs a Rock: Who did not go rock hunting when they were a kid? This story talks about the rules of how to find the perfect rock. But not just any rock, the one that is just for you.

  • Planting a Rainbow: To celebrate this book, we chose to plant a rainbow of flowers in our own garden. We went to the local garden nursery and searched for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple flowers.

  • Curse of the Cheese Pyramid, Geronimo Stilton:  This book is about a mouse named Geronimo, who owns a newspaper company and travels the world having exciting stories to write about.

  • There’s a Wocket in my Pocket: You can have so much fun with Dr. Seuss stories. This is all about rhyming and makes for a fun “make your own book” activity.
