Popsicle Stick Button Flag Kid Craft

If you are looking for a festive red, white and blue craft to do with the kids, today’s fabulous American flag craft is sure to be a real crowd pleaser! PLUS it’s the perfect excuse to pull out that button stash and go through it looking for the right shade of colors for this DIY idea!

So what are you waiting for? This patriotic craft is a unique take on the American flag and your child will enjoy making it! So grab those craft supplies, follow the full simple tutorial below and have fun crafting the day away!!! Happy crafting and celebrating our country, my friends!!!

Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {9 per flag}
  • School Glue
  • Blue Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Various Sizes of White Buttons
  • Various Sizes of Red Buttons
  • optional – other embellishments like rhinestones, glitter etc.

Directions:

First assemble the base of your flag by gluing your popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {7 next to each and two across} Set aside to let it dry completely.

Now grab your blue cardstock and cut out a simple small rectangle to fit in the top left corner. Go ahead and glue it to the popsicle stick frame.

Once done, it’s time for the button stripes! One by one – have children glue their buttons on to the popsicle stick piece in rows of red and white. Repeat for each stripe. Set aside to let it all dry completely.

To finish off the Popsicle Stick Flag craft, have children add other embellishments they see fit and display proudly!!!
