In my childhood, the Christmas classic was the animated “The Snowman.” It’s rather sad, so maybe not appropriate for under-8s or so, unless you have a very mature kindergardner. I highly recommend it: beautiful animation — the kind that looks like colored pencils — and beautiful music. No dialogue, except for the introduction and one lovely song.

I love White Christmas…and Holiday Inn…I watch those every year, oh yeah and It’s a wonderful life…only NOT with the commercial breaks.

We have been watching The Polar Express and Pooh’s Super Sleuth Christmas Movie. I just read Tasha Tudor’s ‘The Doll’s Christmas’ to my daughter and she loved it!

I love visiting your blog each day. I especially like today’s post. We just introduced The Polar Expression to our son this year and he loves it. We aren’t as fond of the movie. And I just love White Christmas, watched it last night! We also watch Miracle on 34th Street each year.

Hi Marie! Happy Holidays! I was mad at Chris VanAllsburg for a few years for “selling out” such a great book to a movie! I’ve been reading it to my classes for years…I figured seeing the movie would steal their excitement for the book! But then I watched the movie w/ my son and LOVED it!! It was so well done. I still read the book to my class (along with bells) and they do really still like it!! This year my son has watched the Polar Express about 8 times already!! I’m glad I don’t get tired of it!!! Yet- Thanks for sharing your book ideas!!

i read in you older post that you like ’sister winter’ from the christmas album by sufjan stevens. i absolutly love this song (and the whole box, and the illinoise-album, etc. etc.); it’s one of my all-time-favourites.

We are listening to A Charlie Brown Christmas. At night, we are watching The Year Without Santa Claus featuring Mr. Heat Miser and Mr. Snow. What fun!
