Super Healthy Kids Giveaway

by Marie on July 7, 2008

Today’s Giveaway is helping to keep our kids eating healthy. Amy, from Super Healthy Kids is full of ideas for eating right. Check out her blog to keep up to date with fun recipes and other food ideas for healthy eating.

Super Healthy Kids features this fantastic Healthy Habits Plate. It has 3 portioned sized sections on the plate, focusing on what the portion sizes should be, as well which types of foods should be eaten. “The Healthy Habits plate teaches kids that half their plate should be full of fruits and vegetables, 1/4 of their plate should be filled with protein, and 1/4 of the plate with grains. Kids will begin to learn how tasty healthy eating can be.”

The image “http://www.superhealthykids.com/images/HealthyHabitsPlatesm.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Hi!
Congratulations on your new baby!
Just wanted to let you know that you have a reader in Israel too. I love your blog! Thanks for all the ideas!
Would you mind writing about celebrating birthdays for the little ones (parties, presents etc.)? My son’s first birthday is getting close.
May I post a link to your blog on mine (Hebrew only)?
Thank you,
Miri

4 aimee July 7, 2008 at 5:56 am

How cute! What a great idea and a great website!

5 Laurel July 7, 2008 at 5:57 am

This is a great idea!

6 Maggie July 7, 2008 at 6:06 am

That is such a great idea! The amazing thing is that we used to have similar plates years ago, without the designated areas of course, and we would use the largest area for the meat-and-potatoes main dish, while the vegetables and a dessert went in the small areas. So much more nutritious and healthy–this is a terrific way to teach our kids how to eat well.

7 Caitilin July 7, 2008 at 6:28 am

I love this idea! Maybe it’ll help my boys to eat better!

8 Natalie July 7, 2008 at 6:37 am

11 Lynne July 7, 2008 at 7:01 am

Hi Marie! Good Morning!
This is a very cute plate! My son is a very picky eater. It’s a control thing for him.(He’s a true scorpio!) We’ve done the weeks of the same food for every meal. I’ve read that many kids do this and it’s OK – on the flip I’ve read you should “force” your kids to eat what you want them to. What’s all of your thoughts on this?

12 Libby July 7, 2008 at 7:15 am

What a great tool to teach my toddler to eat healthy!

13 molly July 7, 2008 at 7:15 am

27 Julie July 7, 2008 at 8:35 am

Okay, I love that plate — we are healthy eaters at our house and this would be an awesome way to even help them see what they should focus on finishing when they’re not keen on eating everything on their plate. I love this!

28 Sarah July 7, 2008 at 8:36 am

Oooh! Me! I think my girls might even cooperate with that!

29 Janel July 7, 2008 at 8:37 am

The only plate better than this one would be one that magically hides all the other food until the veggies are eaten. Then the grains and protein would be revealed. As is, I think this plate would work pretty darn well! Do you mind if I post a link to your blog on mine?

30 vanessa July 7, 2008 at 8:40 am

I have been to her website but forgot about these, they are to cute.

31 Jamie July 7, 2008 at 8:47 am

92 Charity July 7, 2008 at 7:37 pm

I also think this is a great idea. It will work great for my kids since they are still in the “Mom, my food is touching!” stage of life. I also have a preteen who is eating more than me, so portions sizes are a daily conversation in my home.

I’m going to go check out the site now, cause I’m going to need 4 if I’m not lucky enough to win 2 of them :)

93 Tamela July 7, 2008 at 7:38 pm

120 Taylor Gardner July 8, 2008 at 1:33 pm

What a fantastic, educational idea! I was raised with an extreme emphasis placed on healthy eating. My mother has since passed away, and I am just starting to give my first little baby finger foods and am finding myself desperately wanting to teach him the importance of eating well. A plate like this would do a lot to help make it fun for them at this age and onward. Hats off to whoever made it!

121 Emma July 8, 2008 at 2:09 pm

The plate is a great idea!

122 brittany July 8, 2008 at 2:18 pm

135 Joni July 9, 2008 at 2:28 pm

I would love these plates! I have such a hard time making sure my kids get their fruits and veggies. I think these would really help.

I can across your site and am excited to use some of your fun ideas with my kids. I’m not very creative, so I hope you don’t mind me using ALL of your ideas! :)

Very cute plates! Great giveaway!

138 Brooke July 9, 2008 at 9:44 pm

We try to keep our girls on a healthy diet without going overboard and making them gorge on junk food when they get out of our sight. I am still amazed when my 4 year old presents any food item to me so that I can read the ingredients to be sure there is no “high fuit corn syrup” listed. Do you think that will last?

139 Lynsay July 9, 2008 at 10:12 pm

I just stumbled across your blog – tons of great information to be found here, can’t wait to look around some more! Adorable plates, my preschooler would get a kick out of them. Do they make them for grown-ups too?
