The Shop Around the Corner

by Marie on August 13, 2007

I love the movie You’ve Got Mail. Meg Ryan is at her best in romantic comedy fashion. My favorite parts are the scenes in the Shop Around the Corner. I love those little specialty shops. They are all about their charm. I just want to eat up all the children’s books on the shelves. And I love story time, I need a storytime hat like hers. I think it came with a wand too. There is also the 1940′s version of the movie: The Shop Around the Corner.

The Shop Around the Corner got me thinking of the cute little shops around my corner. I love to drive down the main drag of the towns near by. Here are a few must see Shops Around the Corner in Utah.

King’s English Bookshop: It has been around for 30 years located in a quaint Salt Lake City neighborhood. They are having a 30 year 30% off celebration in September.

Finder’s Keepers: Always a good find here located in American Fork. From furniture to home decor, beautiful things at a reasonable price.

Corn Wagon Quilt Company: Located in Springville, this place has all things crafty. I go here for all my primitive stitchery needs. They have good quality fabric too.

Naborhood Bakery: After a big day shopping at Gardner Village in West Jordan, we go straight to this delicious bakery. They have made to order sandwiches and yummy treats and desserts. Always a hit.

Where else have you been that resembles The Shop Around the Corner? Let us all in on the finds in your area. Have fun shopping around.

I was just thinking about You’ve Got Mail the other day! I love that movie, too.

I love hearing about all these places I need to try when I come to UT for a visit next week. I’ll have to add those to my list. My husband is a librarian and both of us love books. We’ll have to head to that book store.

Thanks!

One more thing–you should come, if you can, to a Blogger’s Lunch on August 23rd in Provo. I’d love to meet you! You can e-mail me at cafejohnsonia@yahoo.com if you are interested. I’ll send you the details. (Anyone and everyone is invited to come–Kelly might even be able to come.)

I love gardner village, so if you ever visiting the bakery, stop by pine needles, their fabric store. That is my fav! Then I love the 9th and 9th district in SLC, they have a really cute boutique/children bookshop called the Children’s Hour that is adorable. Then in Highland there is a cute little shop, Dear Lizzie.

I’ve heard of a lot of cool places off the ‘Your Heart Out’ blog too!

Rachel, I too watch this over and over again. I am a huge Meg nerd.

And Meriel, I love Pine needles too. I need to check out Children’s Hour and Dear Lizzie. You always know the goods. I still want to eat at Swagat.

And I should have mentioned Your Heart Out as the Best Utah source. Check it out, it is listed on my side bar as Fabulous.

Is there any I want to know that loves this movie as much as we women, I have to totally agree with you ladies here I could not ever get tired of watching Meg Ryan (Great Actress, and Tom (Sexy) Hanks in this movie my favorite part is when she realizes that it’s him, I think she recongized it when he came to see her when she was sick as he put his hand gently on her lips and looked into her eyes, he sorta get her a clue but she sorta knew a little but I loved when they really kissed at the end that was a wow factor for me! seeing them kiss each other just makes it even more romantic and the way he holds her while he’s kissing her totally wow I wish I was kissing him.
