Quick and Easy After-School Snacks

I don’t know about your kids, but mine come home hungry from school. School can be a long day, lots of sitting, playing, and learning. So when they come home, they are ready for a snack. But I like to be careful not to feed them too much, as dinner is just around the corner. Here’s a few quick and easy after-school snacks we’ve been munching on these last few days, the perfect little snacks.

  • Mini Pizzas: an english muffin topped with sliced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. This is a fun one for the kids to prep themselves, layering on all the toppings. You can pretty much add anything to these: pepperonis, tomato sauce, veggies, etc. Then just pop on a pre-heated 400* oven or toaster oven for 5 minutes.

  • Homemade Microwave Popcorn: yes, it’s homemade! This one is super easy and ready in less than 2 minutes. Click on the link to follow the how-to.

  • Frozen Grapes: we can’t get enough of these. Wash your grapes, place onto lollipop sticks and into a zip bag, and then freeze over night. When the kids get home from school, we take them out of the freezer to thaw out a little, as we don’t want to brake any teeth, then it’s snack time!

  • Muffin Tin Munchies: so many ways to have fun with this snack. The kids love to have their snack in different ways and thanks to muffin tin mom, this is the perfect way to spice things up.

What yummy things are your kids snacking on for an after-school snack?

  1. We just got back from the park (thank you Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for giving us this day without school), and made smoothies!!! I used 1 banana, 16 frozen strawberries, a cup of milk, and 1/2 cup of juice.

  2. Love english muffin snacks! :) Haven’t tried using them for pizza yet…I’ll have to give it a try b/c my 2 yr old eats nothing but bread right now!

  3. I just bought some whole grain english muffins to make mini pizzas at Trader Joe’s today…then they were sampling polenta with spaghetti sauce and melted cheese on top and that was super yummy too so now I have two new snack options (yay) gotta love the TG snack lady!
