Easy Stick Wind Streamers Craft
We love easy crafts that combine natural items we find in the backyard or simple crafts the kids can do while we are out camping. Plus these stick wind streamers are a perfect activity for using up all that scrap yarn and ribbon.
**These items are easy to throw in a bag to take along camping or outside with you. We like to take them with us to the park and create wind streamers from sticks we find at the park.
Have the kids cut strips of yarn, ribbon, and/or string. They can be as long or as short as your kids want depending on how much of the materials you have available. Next have the kids tie the ribbons onto one end of their sticks to make the wind streamers.
Tying knots is a great fine motor activity for kids. It strengthens hand muscles and hand-eye coordination that children will need for writing skills. Plus it’s a great way to practice tying for learning to tie those pesky shoes! Younger children may need help with the tying but preschoolers and older may be able to handle it on their own. You can also use rubber bands or hot glue if your kids have a hard time tying the ribbons on.
When all the ribbon is attached it’s time to fly those streamers! Take them outside and see what happens when they hold them in the wind! They also make super fun nature wands for pretend play!
Super easy but lots of fun! My kids can run around for hours playing with these simple streamers. We even hang them around our campsite when we go camping! What nature crafts do you do when you are camping or playing in the backyard?
