They have all been wonderful memories-they helped me raise all my children, the oldest being 38. Grandchildren love them too.

I love those! That pinball song is one I still sing (and not always when my kids are around). Thanks for sharing!!!

I’m 43 and learned my numbers, letters, etc. from Sesame St.!! I loved when the baker came down the stairs with a big cake and fell! Grover was always my favorite. Of course, that was way before Elmo ever came around! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. One year my husband bought me a Sesame St. umbrella that I loved, unfortunately it was left at a soccer game :( and I haven’t found one since.

Aww Sesame Street. The old Sesame is my favorite, all those classic episodes are the glowy memories of my youth.

Oh I loved these clips! They were all favorites of mine as a kid. I also really loved the ‘one of these things is not like the others’ clip.

We’re big Sesame Street fans! The Madrigal Alphabet and the Daddy Dear clips are my favorite. I’m sure you’re aware of the Old School Sesame Street DVDs you can buy – they are packed with all these old clips! We have and love both sets!

Can’t forget the Ladybug Picnic. I also loved how the kids would lie down on the ground to make letters– it’s just not the same now that they do it digitally and make the kids float through the air. Ahh, the good old days. :)

Oh Wow! What a fun blast from the past! My all time favorite is It was very early in the shows life. Thanks for the fun post.

Oh, these are great moments. I loved the Twiddlebugs. And those funny critters that always looked like fry guys to me….
Among my favorites is the baker who falls down holding some large number of cakes or pies.
And the classic, Can’t you see, there’s a bird on me is a personal favorite. I still get a kick out of the silly music and funny voice singing.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

My favorite memories are new memories of my 18 month old twins who *love* Sesame Street. They squeal and get all excited when they see Big Bird and Elmo. :) I’m going to plan their 2nd birthday party with the SS theme. I love it!

I remember these! Oh and the things that sounded out words, do they even do those anymore?

17 Melissa October 30, 2009 at 1:18 am

OH the fond memories! I still remember sitting in front of the tv watching sesame street wearing footed pajamas at 6am everyday. I had the weirdest sleeping schedule!

I loved Grover’s ‘Near and Far’ sketch. Wow. 40 years??!?!

We’re huge Sesame Street fans. My favorites are pretty much any of the ones with Grover, but especially the ones where he’s teaching or learning about something, like What is love and Near and Far. I also love the ones with Grover as a waiter. I still watch with my son and enjoy it immensely. So does he!

Oh, you are all bringing back other fabulous memories!! Near and Far, the monsters spelling out words, which one if these is not like the other.

Mari-Ann – I think I’m going to have to get those dvds of the oldies!

Deb – Thanks for coming out of lurkdom to comment! And a SS party would be a great one!

Melissa – I too have memories of waking up really early, (really early) and watching Sesame Street!!

I love Sesame Street so much, and we sing the songs a lot around here!

My absolute favourite clip is Ernie & Bert fishing – “Heeeeeeeere fishy fishy fishy!!” I feel the need to say it every time I go fishing or when my daughter has plastic fish in the tub. ;)

22 Marie November 2, 2009 at 2:26 pm

SkylarKD – Oh, how did I forget “heeeeeeere fishy fishy!!” That was my favorite and every time I’d go fishing with my Dad, we’d be sure to say that phrase!

I remember when our 1st grade teacher told us about this “new” TV show that would help us learn…so I’m an original! My favorites include the baker falling down the stairs, the “J jump” song, “Somebody Come and Play”. I loved Bert and Ernie sketches (fishy, fishy fishy) and Oscar. Great memories.
