The Rascally Adventures of Calvin and Hobbes

by Marie on August 20, 2010

We can’t get enough of Calvin and his crazy adventures. I used to read these books over and over again when I was a child and it’s so much fun to now share them with my son! He’ll be in his room reading and giggling for 2 days straight, going from cover to cover. I love it! Any Calvin and Hobbes fans out there?

What books are your kids into reading right now?

I was in 7th grade when I discovered these gems. I was also a bit of a pain in the classroom and I can remember one teacher who let me read the books in the hall rather than disturb the classroom. Win-win for both of us I guess!

My husband loves Calvin! Right now we are on a Oliver Jeffers kick and Ramona Series kick!

We have the entire Calvin and Hobbes collection. Both in regular paperback (as they came out) and in special volumed edition. That’s how much we love them. My seven year is exactly like Calvin in so many ways. Especially when it comes to picture taking.

Sadly, for me and my husband anyway, my daughter is still fixated on the Disney Princesses…specifically Cinderella. Not that I have anything against the ladies but it gets very old to reread the same story over and over for over a year and a half now. We do of course expose her to other books but the one she always asks for and the one no bedtime routine is truly over until it’s been read always involves a Princess of some type.

We are coo-coo for Cocoa-puff about Calvin in our house right now. We’ve been checking the books out from the library and reading them at bedtime, but we had to stop for a bit because my 5yo would get to laughing so hard he couldn’t calm down and fall asleep!

Hi,
I just loved reading Calvin and Hobbs. I tell people that when I was expecting my 18 year old son I read the comics so much that my son turned into my own little Calvin.

My 9 year old son loves Calvin. He owns many of the books and checks out the ones he doesn’t at the library. We occasionally copy & enlarge his favourites, so he can paint and colour them in.

We love Calvin & Hobbes, and P is old enough to love the Far Side now as well. We’re also big Fablehaven fans, Harry Potter, & what else? C.S. Lewis is always amazing for kids.
