Counting Down the Days

by Marie on November 26, 2007

I love to count down the days until Christmas. As a Kindergarten teacher, it was fun to do lots of counting with the kids. We would glue cotton balls onto Santa’s beard in number order 1-25. Download the image of Santa here.

Here some other fun Advent Calendars that help count down the 25 days until Christmas. How do you count down the days to Christmas?

Last year, I gift-wrapped a Christmas-themed picture book for each of the days in December….the kids unwrapped one each night to read before bed. A lot of work, but worth it!
This year, we’re making a paper chain, each link having an activity written on it; they get to tear one off daily.
Love the santa! We’re going to try that one, too.

Oooo, Meg, What activities do you put on each paper chain? What a great idea to add something to the paper chain other than just tearing it off!!

I love Christmas. Counting down the days to Christmas (now disrespectfully called the Winter Holiday Break) was one of my favorite things about school. I love to let the kids open the advent calendar and eat a candy. I always buy mine at Cost Plus. Cheap with yummy chocolate.
